Andorra is a small, landlocked country located in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain it covers an area of approximately 470 square kilometers and has a population of around 72 thousand people the official languages are Catalan Spanish French and Portuguese but the majority of the population speaks Catalan the capital city of Andorra la Vella is home to many shops boutiques and restaurants making it a popular destination for shopping and tourism

Andorra has a unique government system where the head of state is a council of twice elected presidents who serve as joint heads of state along with a prime minister the country gained independence from the Bishop of Urgell in 1993 and since then it has been governed by a parliamentary democracy with a constitutional monarch

The economy of Andorra is primarily driven by tourism due to its picturesque landscape and favorable tax regime however there are also efforts being made to diversify the economy through initiatives such as developing renewable energy and investing in technology infrastructure

Andorra has a well-developed education system with both public and private schools available to students it is compulsory for children between the ages of six and sixteen to attend school and a significant number of students go on to pursue higher education at universities in Spain or other European countries

In terms of healthcare Andorra has a good standard of medical care available through its public health system patients have access to both specialized doctors and high quality medical facilities although some citizens choose to visit hospitals in nearby France or Spain for more complex treatment options

Regarding culture Andorra has been influenced by the traditions of its neighboring countries it celebrates various festivals throughout the year such as the Saint Esteve Festival where locals dance around bonfires on December 26th Additionally there are numerous hiking trails museums and historical sites for visitors to explore

Historically Andorra was a significant location during World War II with many refugees from France taking refuge in the country however after the war it experienced a period of stability until gaining independence in 1993
